STRONG THROUGH THE SEASON
How One Neighbor Reclaimed Strength, Routine, and Confidence — One Step at a Time
Grand Fadal and Kenny Bolline
Seventeen years ago, Kenny Bolline and his family moved into Indian Lakes. He loved the trails, the stillness, the feeling of open sky — the kind of place where being active felt effortless.
Then, in 2016, his world stopped moving.
A severe back injury led to surgery, nerve pain, and a recovery process marked by limitation. The simplest motion required planning. Pain became part of every decision.
“Anyone who has experienced nerve pain from a hurt back knows — it is disabling and miserable,” Kenny said. “I never want to be in that situation again, and if I am, it won’t be because I’m out of shape.”
That moment — the moment he decided he would not return to that place — became a turning point.
Finding the Courage to Begin Again
When he was cleared to exercise again, Kenny started slowly. He learned to listen to his body. Progress came in small increments, but eventually, he realized he needed structure — and accountability — to continue building strength safely and correctly.
In the summer of 2020, he walked into Helioss Fitness and met Fitness Professional, Grant Fadal.
“I joined because I needed instruction and accountability,” Kenny said. “I knew Grant could provide both.”
Grant didn’t hand him a punishing routine or pressure him with expectations. Instead, he offered something much more valuable: patience, guidance, and a belief that strength is built slowly — and kept consistently.
Strength Looks Like Showing Up
With consistency, Kenny noticed something unexpected.
He wasn’t dragging himself to workouts anymore.
He was looking forward to them.
“I look forward to working out now — instead of dreading it,” he said.
Helioss didn’t just teach him how to lift safely — it helped him shift from temporary goals to sustainable habits.
“Grant helped me develop healthy habits — not crash diets that don’t last.”
And he wasn’t alone in his journey.
The people around him — neighbors, parents, retirees, beginners — became part of the experience.
“I’ve worked out with most of the trainers. I know their names and their stories. I’ve gotten to know other clients.”
Helioss wasn’t about fitting into a mold.
It was about belonging.
Strength That Shows Up in Life
Kenny doesn’t talk about fitness numbers or personal records.
He talks about freedom.
Freedom to move.
Freedom to travel.
Freedom to spend time outdoors, elk hunting, without worrying if his body can handle it.
“I feel my best when I’m able to do things I love — and my fitness is no longer an obstacle.”
He shows up because he loves his life outside the gym.
And he wants to live it fully.
“I’ve never left a workout not feeling better about myself.”
Staying Strong Through the Holidays
Holidays test everyone’s discipline — even the consistent ones.
For Kenny, the hardest part isn’t the food — it’s losing routine.
“Routine is everything for me,” he says. “Travel and celebrations get your routine out of whack.”
His goal is simple:
Maintain. Move. Stay consistent.
Maintain. Move. Stay consistent.
If You’re Nervous to Start…
Kenny gets it. Walking into a gym can be intimidating.
His advice?
“Helioss has a wide range of clients — you won’t regret it.”
Grant echoes that sentiment:
“Every person who walks in had the same hesitation. Everyone is here to improve their health — just like you.”
Strength doesn’t begin with confidence.
Confidence comes from showing up.
Closing Thought
If you ask Kenny what changed his life, he doesn’t say a gym.
He says:
“I decided I wasn’t going to go back to where I was.”
“I decided I wasn’t going to go back to where I was.”
Helioss gave him tools.
Grant gave him guidance.
Kenny gave himself his life back.
