September Travel – Don’t Sleep on One of the Best Months to Get Away

If you’ve never traveled in September, you may be missing one of the best times of the year to explore. Summer crowds begin to thin out, temperatures become more comfortable, and many destinations offer better value than during peak season.
One of my favorite September recommendations is an Alaskan cruise. The scenery is just as spectacular, wildlife is still abundant, and late-season sailings can sometimes offer better rates than those in mid-summer. In fact, I just helped a wonderful couple plan their very first Alaska cruise this September to celebrate a milestone anniversary!
If fall foliage is calling your name, Vermont is hard to beat. Charming small towns, scenic drives, and vibrant colors make it one of the most beautiful places to experience autumn. I’ve even had honeymooners tell me it was one of their favorite trips.
For those dreaming of Europe, Italy truly shines during the shoulder season. September brings more comfortable temperatures and lighter crowds at many of the country’s most iconic sights. It’s a great time to wander historic cities, enjoy outdoor cafés, and experience Italy at a slower, more relaxed pace.
Whether you’re looking for mountain scenery, colorful fall landscapes, or a European escape, September is a fantastic time to travel.
