The Moumenzadeh and Assadpour Family

From Iran to Oklahoma, a journey of new beginnings.

My parents' names are Reza Moumenzadeh and Mojgan Assadpour, and my name is Nika Moumenzadeh. We have lived in IHR since 2020 and have absolutely loved it!

My family is originally from Iran, and both my parents immigrated to Oklahoma from there. They met in Iran through friends. My parents came to the U.S. for the opportunity to attend school, settled in Oklahoma, and that’s where I was born.

I am a rising Senior at OU majoring in Chemical Biosciences, on the Pre-Medicine track. My father graduated from UCO with a Chemistry degree and worked as a Chemist for a few Oil and Gas companies. However, the company he worked for moved to Houston, but our family wanted to stay in Oklahoma, so my father decided to take a leap and open a car dealership. My mother graduated from Rose State, and worked as a Medical Lab Technologist. She decided to quit her job and help my dad with the business.

A special way we celebrate American and Iranian holidays as a family is with our family friends. Our family loves to host get-togethers. In Iranian culture, we find it important to keep family close and traditionally do this through having family gatherings often. Recently, one of our favorite things to do as a family has been to watch the OKC Thunder during the playoffs, and even attend some games. Our family's favorite movie is Mrs. Doubtfire, which we have watched every year during Christmas time since I was a toddler without fail!

We love to spend time outdoors through ways such as having a picnic, going to the lake, going on walks, and more! Our family loves to play tennis together as one of our talents.

One of our favorite parts about living in IHR is the sense of community around us. From simple things such as always waving hi to neighbors walking/driving by, to trusting those around us for advice and help when it comes to things such as babysitting or home advice, the neighborhood has truly fostered a sense of community. Although we do not have a family pet, we love dog-sitting our neighbor's dog Ollie, who has stolen our hearts!

We love how peaceful the neighborhood feels, especially with the multiple ponds and walking trails available for families to enjoy. It makes the IHR area feel welcoming, active, and connected to nature.
