9 Colonel Estill Avenue
A Family Haven Under the Oaks
Tucked beneath the canopy of oaks in Wymberly, Rachel and Ben Goldsmith’s home at 9 Colonel Estill Avenue blends midcentury charm with breezy coastal comfort. Built in 1950, the house carries a rich sense of history—one that the Goldsmiths have embraced and gently renewed during their nearly five years on Isle of Hope.
The couple was drawn to the neighborhood’s warmth and walkability. “It’s the kind of place where you bring your first baby home from the hospital and end up raising your family surrounded by caring neighbors and daily walks under the oaks,” Rachel shared. That sentiment has shaped every corner of their home.
Inside, the space exudes a cozy coastal-cottage vibe—bright, airy, and effortlessly welcoming. Recent updates include a refreshed kitchen and a reimagined primary bathroom featuring a glass walk-in shower and modern fixtures. These thoughtful upgrades bring new life to the home while honoring its original character.
Balancing old and new presented its challenges, but the Goldsmiths took a deliberate approach. “We wanted to update an older home without losing its charm,” Rachel said. Small but impactful changes—fresh paint, light fixtures, and updated finishes—helped achieve that goal.
The home’s story is written in its memories: welcoming two babies, hosting backyard birthdays, and strolling through the neighborhood at sunset. While they’ve completed most of their vision, Rachel admits she’d love to add a screened porch someday to enjoy the outdoor space even more.
Her advice to neighbors? “Keep things light and bright—fresh paint and updated lighting can completely transform a room.”
