26 Nancy Place

From Front Porch to Fire Pit

Tucked along a quiet corner of Isle of Hope, the home at 26 Nancy Place reflects both thoughtful renovation and a deeply personal sense of place. Owned by Annie Milton, the 1948 residence has been her sanctuary for the past eight years, offering the peaceful atmosphere and individuality that first drew her to the neighborhood.

Milton purchased the home nine years ago and spent six months bringing new life to the classic structure. She describes its personality as “a cottage with pizzazz,” a fitting phrase for a space that balances charm with energy. One of the home’s most beloved features is its generous front porch, which opens seamlessly through the house to a patio fire pit, creating an easy flow for entertaining. A back-deck kitchen and a quaint guest house add to the home’s versatility and warmth.

Perhaps the most striking element lies outdoors. A lush garden, designed and built by Milton’s son, features arbors framing flowers and vegetables. When fully planted, the space becomes a vibrant extension of the home and a favorite gathering spot.

Renovation challenges were met with a solid plan, a colorful and dedicated crew, and a daily ritual of fresh coffee, pastries, and home-cooked lunches. Inside, Milton layered the home with art, family heirlooms, furnishings, and one-of-a-kind finds collected through travel and antiquing.

Some of her most meaningful memories are the countless hours spent cooking and gardening alongside her son. Those moments, she says, are irreplaceable. As she looks ahead to her next chapter, her advice to neighbors is simple: do what makes you happy and enjoy the process.
