The Ferrelles’ Backyard Retreat

From Poolside to Palm Shade

For Scott and Anna-Lea Ferrelle, their yard is more than a backdrop—it’s a space where family, business, and community come together. Scott, a lifelong Isle of Hope resident, and Anna-Lea, originally from Alabama, are now raising their son Ty on the same quiet streets and under the same mossy oaks Scott once explored as a boy.

As owners of Savannah Poolscapes, the couple approached their landscape with both professional vision and personal intention. “We wanted a place that felt warm and inviting—a space to host friends and clients, but also a place for Ty to learn to swim and play,” they said.

Designed by Paul Daniels and featuring palms from Green Goods as well as seasonal plantings from Herb Creek, the yard balances elegance and function. Palm trees create a breezy canopy in the front, while bold pops of salvia and bottlebrush bring color—and hummingbirds—into view. A sunken seating area, tucked among tropical plantings, offers a serene spot to relax or entertain.

Of course, even a professionally designed yard comes with its lessons. “The deer have strong opinions,” they joked. “And we’ve learned a lot about plant care through unpredictable winters.”

With deep roots in the neighborhood and a passion for outdoor living, the Ferrelles continue to shape a space that feels both personal and welcoming—an extension of the life they love on Isle of Hope.”
