Where Whimsy Takes Shape

For Danielle Coleman, creativity has always felt instinctive. After living in Savannah for 17 years and on Isle of Hope for the past eight, she has found a rhythm that blends family life, artistry, and a neighborhood she describes as feeling like family just beyond her fence.

Coleman knew early on that art would shape her path. She studied illustration and creative writing at SCAD, graduating in 2013, and gravitated toward work that allowed her to build and sculpt with her hands. While her early focus leaned toward children’s books, it was the tactile pull of three-dimensional work that stayed with her. In 2021, she stepped away from a traditional work schedule to spend more time with her children and reawaken her creative practice through Poly Clay Collection.

Working primarily with polymer clay and acrylic paint, Coleman creates jewelry, accessories, and small sculptural pieces rooted in fantasy and nostalgia. Bright colors, whimsical creatures, and imaginative details define her collections, from woodland-inspired fall designs to her winter line, “The Winter Court,” filled with fairies, dragons, and a touch of ballroom glamour. A playful college project crafting faux “late-night munchies” cemented her love for sculptural work and remains a favorite memory.

Running a creative business, she says, comes with constant challenges, from burnout to juggling every role behind the scenes. Her solution is balance—protecting her art as a passion rather than letting it become a source of strain.

Coleman hopes her work offers a small escape. If one of her pieces sparks a smile or a moment of joy, she considers that a success.
