Langston Jones

Putting in the Work, On and Off the Field

At just 10 years old, Langston Jones has already built an impressive athletic resume. A fourth grader who moved to Isle of Hope in late 2024, he’s found his rhythm in multiple sports—but baseball holds a special place in his heart.

Langston plays first base for Five Star National, bringing strong defensive instincts and dedication to the game. He also plays basketball for the Ballers at Jenkins Athletic Club and flag football for Hancock Day School, rounding out his athletic experience. But when it comes down to favorites, baseball wins every time.

His love for the sport started in the spring of 2021, when he joined the Animals to play alongside a friend. That decision set him on a path of hard work and steady improvement. One of his proudest moments came this season, when he made two unassisted double plays in a tournament—proof that his effort was paying off.

Balancing sports and school isn’t easy, but Langston finds ways to make it work. He hits off the tee at home daily and even runs to the bluff in the mornings before school. His friends help quiz him on spelling words after practice, making sure he stays sharp both on the field and in the classroom.

Coaches like Chris Wilson, JP, Nick Finland, and Tony Martin have pushed him to be more aggressive and disciplined. With their guidance, Langston hopes to keep playing baseball for Five Star and take on a new challenge this fall—tackle football.

His advice to young athletes? “Work hard and don’t give up.”

With his dedication and drive, there’s no doubt Langston Jones is just getting started.
