Ellie Trowell
Finding Her Rhythm in Irish Dance

At just eight years old, Eleanor “Ellie” Trowell is already captivating audiences with her skill and grace as an Irish dancer. A third grader and Isle of Hope resident, Ellie moved to the neighborhood six years ago and has been soaking up its charm ever since. One of her favorite pastimes is biking along the bluff, where she feels the ocean breeze in her hair.
Ellie’s love for Irish dance began at the age of four, after she saw a group of dancers perform at a local event. Fascinated, she asked her parents to let her join a class, and the rest is history. Now, as a proud member of Morgan Legacy Irish Dance Academy, Ellie thrives in the art form. St. Patrick’s Day is her favorite time of year because it offers plenty of opportunities to showcase her talent. From marching in Savannah’s iconic parade to performing at community events, Ellie embraces the spotlight.
This year, Ellie reached a major milestone in her dance journey by competing in her first feis (an Irish dance competition) in Atlanta, where she won first place in all her events. But for Ellie, it’s not just about the accolades. Dance has taught her resilience—“Everyone fails sometimes, but you have to keep trying, and eventually you’ll get it,” she shares.
Her coach, Ms. Abbey, has played a pivotal role in her success, helping Ellie build confidence and professionalism on stage. For now, Ellie’s goal is to keep enjoying dance and performing for fun. Her advice to other young athletes? “Never stop trying your best.”
With her determination and love for her craft, Ellie is a shining example of what it means to pursue your passion wholeheartedly.
