Wild Visions
The Art of Sarah Sandin
Since moving to Isle of Hope in May 2022, Sarah Sandin has been captivated by the neighborhood’s proximity to downtown Savannah and the serene beauty of life by the water. Her artistic journey, however, began in much wilder terrain—both literally and figuratively.
Raised between the remote wilderness of Northern Ontario, Canada and the towering Redwoods of California, Sarah’s unconventional upbringing was rooted in creativity. With parents who embraced off-grid living and fostered artistic expression, she grew up without television, filling her days with music, painting, and drawing.
Professionally, Sarah’s artistry took shape in the entertainment industry of Los Angeles, where she worked as a performance artist, creative consultant, and art director. After 20 years of contributing to film, photography, and branding projects, she shifted focus to her first love: painting.
Sarah’s work reflects a kaleidoscope of influences, drawing on contemporary art, street art, and the natural world. Using spray paint, earth pigments, oils, and unconventional materials like coffee stains, her creations explode with color, energy, and a rebellious spirit. She finds beauty in contrasts, describing her pieces as “movement—like a rose in the crack of a sidewalk.”
One of her earliest artistic milestones was selling a rose painting at age 12, an experience that cemented her path. Today, Sarah’s art extends beyond her canvas. She owns The Stables Savannah, a dynamic creative space featuring artist studios, gallery shows, and DIY events that embody her love of freedom and collaboration.
Through her work, Sarah hopes to inspire authenticity and boldness in others. Locals can explore her creations and learn more at sarahbrookestudio.com, where she offers studio tours, painting classes, and a glimpse into her visionary world.
