Biscuit & Bailey
Masters of the Warm Welcome
For Jennifer Lindley, few homecomings are complete without two furry faces waiting in the window. Biscuit and Bailey, her beloved Cavapoos, greet every return by wiggling their backsides with enough enthusiasm to suggest she has been away for a year.
Jennifer has called Isle of Hope home for 14 years and treasures its close-knit community, natural beauty, and oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Her dogs are equally fond of their surroundings — particularly the family’s front and back yards, where they diligently bark at deer wandering over from Wormsloe.
Bailey, 12, joined Jennifer’s family when he was 7 months old. At the time, she had another Cavapoo named Davey and hoped to find him a companion. Bailey arrived with his name already in place, while 4-year-old Biscuit received a moniker Jennifer simply loved.
A cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a poodle, both boys have mastered an especially endearing response to conversation. Whenever Jennifer speaks to them, they cock their heads from side to side as though carefully considering every word.
Their interests are refreshingly straightforward: bones, pungent bully sticks, neighborhood wildlife, and virtually any opportunity to ride in the car. Trips to Hipster Hound for grooming are welcome excursions, but the destination matters far less than the drive itself.
If Biscuit and Bailey could plan their perfect outing, they would likely accompany Jennifer to work in the operating room, where they could stretch out with their bellies against the cool floor. Still, Jennifer’s favorite moments are the ordinary ones — snuggling with her boys each day and enjoying the devotion they so freely give.
