The Ogles Move North
As your neighbors, Jim and Susan Ogle, bid adieu to Kelly Plantation, we asked for a final interview.

Jim and Susan Ogle bought their Kelly Plantation condo in 2020 after having kept homes in West Palm Beach and near Moab, Utah for over 20 years. Having decided they'd had enough of keeping up with two residences (and a Panama City Beach vacation rental), they liquidated everything and settled into One Water Place.
Jim and Susan, both Illinois natives, exemplify extremes of the American story. Jim's family settled in the British Colony of Delaware in 1648. Three generations of Ogles lived and died on the continent before the United States existed. On the other extreme, Susana Mastrapa Loza was the first person in her family to be born on American soil. Her father was completing his medical residency in Chicago when the Cuban revolution caused their family to seek refuge in the United States.
The couple met in Orlando in 1992 and were married three years later on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Both Jim and Susan enjoyed lengthy careers in the document printing industry and remain active in what's left of it today.
Jim and Susan were drawn to Kelly Plantation by the One Water Place condominiums. Their search criteria for a new home included a condo with a water view, underground parking, an onsite fitness facility and a gas range. One Water Place checked every box.
Far and away and without hesitation, both will instantly say the best thing about Kelly Plantation is the people who live there.
Ask either why they're moving and you'll get a shrug, some excuse about hurricanes, out of control insurance, cool mountain breezes or wanting to build another house. Pressed further, an admission comes that they are addicted to adventure. Jim says he knows that all escalators end up in the same basement, yet every floor is loaded with new and different wonders to see, touch, smell or try on for size. Then he suggests, “Maybe we are just trying to run away from the end of our story and starting over again is our way of pretending it isn’t there.”
Thank you, Jim and Susan, for sharing your story. You will be missed! We wish you all the best in your next chapter.
