From News Anchor to Neighbor: Meet Linda Bryan

Longtime resident, Realtor, and a familiar, friendly face in the Destin community, Linda’s vivacious personality is contagious.

Linda’s journey through life has taken her from TV newsrooms to real estate showings to portraying American historical figures to dressing as a first-century Christian for a film set. She is one active and energetic lady!

Linda and her late husband moved to Kelly Plantation in 2013, but her ties to the area run deeper. “We had owned a condo in the area since 1999,” she shares. “When my husband retired, we decided to try living on the Emerald Coast. Obviously, we loved it!”
Choosing Kelly Plantation was an easy decision. “My husband loved the golf club and had made several good friends who lived in Kelly,” Linda explains. “As a Realtor, I feel this is the most desirable subdivision in the area. The neighbors are all very friendly. There is no end to activities and clubs one can participate in. It is the best location for shopping, dining, and enjoying the Gulf.”

Originally from Murray, Kentucky, Linda spent over two decades in Atlanta, Georgia, before planting roots in Destin. Her career path has been as dynamic as her personality. “I hold a master’s degree in mass communications,” she said. “I worked for eight years as a television journalist in three different markets—Louisville, Kansas City, and Dallas. When the boys were little, I switched careers and became vice president of a career apparel company.”

After moving to Florida, Linda became a Realtor. Eighteen years later, she is still passionate about helping people find their dream homes, and mentors others in her profession as well. “I love selling real estate and teaching real estate classes to other Realtors.”

Outside of her career, Linda’s calendar is filled with meaningful activities. She’s active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she’s known for portraying historic women like Martha Washington and Sarah Fulton, and she’s currently preparing a new presentation as Dolly Madison for the U.S. semi-quincentennial in 2026. “I’ve enjoyed cleaning cemeteries, supporting veterans, and learning more about our local history,” she shared.

Linda also finds time for her church community. “I am part of a terrific ladies’ Sunday School class at Village Baptist Church. When the regular teacher is out, I’ve enjoyed substituting for her.” Family also plays a central role in Linda’s life. She has two sons, Hogan and Todd, both married to “lovely and talented” women (whom she affectionately calls “daughters in love”), and a five-year-old grandson, Benjamin, whom she adores.

When it comes to fun and fitness, Linda swears by Pilates classes at Studio Blue four times a week. She’s also a book lover, a theatergoer with season tickets to the Emerald Coast Theater Company, and a foodie with favorite restaurants like Wine World and Boshamps. The Chosen is her favorite movie series. “My daughter-in-law and I got to be extras in season three for the filming of ‘The feeding of the 5,000.’ I made our costumes, and we were dressed as first-century Christians. It was a blast!”

Travel is another one of Linda’s passions, and an upcoming adventure has her particularly excited. “Next month, my sister and my niece and I will go to Italy for a tour I’ve been planning. We’ll go to Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast,” she shared. “Italy is my favorite vacation destination—with England a close second.”

For now, Linda is loving life on the Emerald Coast, filling her days with good friends, good food, exercise, and lots of fun. And if you see Martha Washington strolling around the neighborhood, don't be alarmed - it's just Linda!

Thank you, Linda, for sharing your story with Stroll.
