For the young women selected as Greensboro Symphony Debutantes, the season culminates with an elegant evening in December. But the tradition extends beyond gowns and formal presentations, with an emphasis on community service and support for the arts.

The Greensboro Symphony Guild will hold its 49th annual Symphony Presentation Ball on Dec. 28, recognizing 11 young women with Greensboro-area connections and a commitment to their communities.

Since the program began in 1978, 966 young women have been presented. During their debutante season, participants serve as ambassadors for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and take part in social and philanthropic activities, including “A Night at the Symphony” at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts and the annual Family Picnic.

Each year, the Greensboro Symphony Guild also makes a donation to the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra on behalf of the debutantes, reinforcing the program’s longstanding connection to the arts.

This year’s debutantes are Baity Grantham Barksdale, Greyson Dow Cook, Magnolia Evalyn Hamilton, McKall Twanna Nelson, Sophia Georgia Palamaris, Claire Skipwith Parker, Marissa Alexandra Redmon, Ellison Lynne Roy, Gabrielle Teresa Schell, Julia Rebecca Scott and Macy Grace Spencer.

Barbara Key will chair the 2026 Presentation Ball, with Ginger Griffin serving as honorary chair and Ray Hagemann as master of ceremonies.
