Addisyn Hofseth

Landing in Lexington

“Make sure you are doing your sport for you and for the glory of God, not just to try and please someone else,” shares Addisyn Hofseth, our Athlete of the Month. “Once you are able to find that internal motivation to push yourself to be better, that’s when you truly love what you are doing.”
Addisyn is eighteen-years-old, a five-and-a-half year resident of Lake Windcrest, and soon, she’ll be a collegiate athlete. She is a level ten gymnast in the USAG DP program. She is a part of the team at Cypress Academy Gymnastics - Huffmeister, competes in the All-Around, and has been to the DP National Championships three times. She is committed to the University of Kentucky on a full athletic scholarship.
At just two years old, Addisyn began her gymnastics journey in “Mommy and Me” classes. When she was seven, she started competing, and she has not stopped. Her favorite part of her athletic journey was taking official visits to six different Division 1 universities, before committing to be a Kentucky Wildcat.
Before she was a forthcoming college gymnast, Addisyn attended Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy throughout high school, her schedule was “always pretty accommodating for [her] long practices.” It’s obviously not easy to balance five hours of practice with school and homework, but Addisyn says it’s possible with patience and commitment. She plans on carrying these qualities with her as she heads off to Lexington.
Through her experiences as an athlete and gymnast, Addisyn has gained innumerable life lessons. Her coaches have contributed to these lessons in various ways; most recently, her coaches have helped her rediscover her love for the sport and helped her stay healthy for college. In the future, Addisyn hopes to contribute to her team at the University of Kentucky in a positive way, and wants to help the team win a national title. Her aspirations are lofty, but if history is any indication, she’ll stick the landing.
