Double the Hustle

Meet the Ray Twins

It’s twice the fun for this month’s Athlete of the Month column as we introduce you to not one but two athletes: eleven-year-old twin sisters Aubrey and Olivia Ray, who are fifth graders. Aubrey, a soccer player, and Olivia, a tumbler, have lived in Lake Windcrest since 2019, where they enjoy the open space, wildlife, and friendly neighbors.

Aubrey plays soccer in the select Challenge Soccer Club, where she shines in her position as a defender. “I started playing soccer when I was five years old,” Aubrey says. “I hope to continue to grow as a player and possibly play in college one day.” Olivia does tumbling at Woodlands Elite and is currently working on perfecting her back handspring and back tuck. “I started with dance and gymnastics when I was five years old,” Olivia says. “I realized I preferred tumbling and would love to cheer in middle school.”

Both activities involve lots of time, but school and grades always come first, both Aubrey and Olivia maintain all A’s and are high achievers. They have both received the Panther Praise Award at MPI for character and excellent work ethic and are also both in Student Council. Outside of school and sports, they love time outdoors, from water skiing and snow to deer hunting with their dad.

Through sports, Aubrey and Olivia have learned the value of dedication and perseverance, showing up daily to grow and put in the work. They tell other aspiring young athletes to work hard, to be committed, and to never give up. In the future, they would love to attend Texas A&M University. For the Ray girls, things come in twos; whether it’s Aubrey on the soccer field or Olivia in the gym, they’re giving twice the effort and having double the fun.
