Standing with Shea in Her Fight
Help Your Neighbor Shea Anger Access Life-Saving Therapies
Shea Anger is in the fight of her life. In February, on her 25th wedding anniversary, Shea suddenly had trouble speaking and walking. What should have been a happy milestone turned into an emergency. She was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer.
Shea’s tumor measures over 5.4 × 2 × 2 cm. It is positioned along her corpus callosum, the wide tract of nerve that connects the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Shea was fortunate to get an appointment at MD Anderson with one of the top neurosurgeons in the country. Unfortunately, because of where the tumor is located, surgery is not recommended. The plan now is to biopsy the tumor further to determine the most effective chemotherapy and radiation approach.
There may also be access to cutting-edge or experimental therapies that could offer additional hope. They are exploring options including treatment through ImmunityBio, led by Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, whose team is studying immune-based approaches for glioblastoma that activate natural killer cells and T cells to fight the tumor.
Shea, her husband Rudi, and their beautiful daughter Alli are reeling from this devastating news. Everything has changed in an instant.
It is urgent that Shea begin treatment immediately and have access to every possible option that could extend her life and improve her chances. Travel, consultations, potential experimental therapies, and time away from work will create enormous financial strain during an already unimaginable crisis.
If you know Shea, you know her strength, her warmth, and her fierce love for her family. She is a counselor, an amazing mom, and has a great sense of humor. She is loved and deserves every chance to fight this disease.
