Becky Espinoza and her husband, Luis, have been together since they were seventeen years old. Since then, their family has only grown, their family increasing in numbers and in joy. They have three adult children: Angel, Joshua, and Laila. Angel is married to Nicholas and has two children, seven-year-old Christian and four-year-old Reagan, as well as their rescue terrier, Tucker. Laila is married to Matthew, and they have Luis and Becky’s other granddog, Milo, a Shorkie. “Family, both human and furry, truly brings joy to our lives,” Becky shares.

Originally from Houston proper, Becky and Luis have called Lake Windcrest home for seventeen years. “After our Houston home flooded twice, we were ready for a fresh start,” says Becky. “We immediately fell in love with the wooded lots and peaceful, family oriented community, the perfect place for our kids to grow up surrounded by nature. Back then, FM 1488 was only two lanes and our kids would see the longhorns grazing in the fields on the way to school.”

 

As mentioned, Becky and Luis have been together since they were still teenagers. On December 19th, they will celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary. While growing their family, they also worked side-by-side for thirty-four years in the oil and gas industry and recently retired together. About their experience, Becky says it’s “been such a wonderful journey sharing both life and work with each other.”

After her joint retirement alongside Luis, Becky has now started a new venture: a luxury photo booth called Shimmer and Shine. Becky says retirement has enabled her to be creative and add extra fun and excitement to any event. “People are often surprised by our elegant setup, high-quality instant prints and digitals and our ability to customize branding for each occasion,” Becky shares. She loves seeing a client’s happy tears or hearing someone say, “She nailed it,” saying it “always means the world when clients share how thrilled their guests were to experience our luxury photo booth.” Having always loved photography, decorating for events and holidays and finding ways to be creative, Shimmer and Shine has enabled her to explore these passions and bring joy to her clients and their events. In their free time, Becky and Luis love going for walks, riding their bikes or jetskis, and paddleboarding. Whatever they’re doing, they like to do it together, “whether it’s going for joy rides on his motorcycle or in my car with the top down on a beautiful day, or taking long walks along the nature trails. Simple moments like these are always the most memorable!” After decades together, Becky and Luis are still each other’s favorite person.

Through everything, the Espionzas are most grateful for their “loving family, good health, friendships, and great neighbors that have grown into family-like bonds.” They additionally mentioned that they are thankful that God has “placed [them] in this season of life.” Having dedicated so many years to their careers, they are learning to embrace retirement and enjoy life. “The village of friends and family that has naturally formed through being involved in our children and grandbabies lives is an incredible blessing as well,” Becky and Luis share. As hard as they have worked and as busy as life can be, it always comes back to family for Becky and Luis Espinoza; “We still make a point to get together often for dinners, game nights, and holidays. It’s always special having everyone under one roof again.”
