Robert Bridgman / HVAC Service Pros

As a young child, Robert Bridgman was always fascinated by things that moved mechanically and by electricity. “I always wondered how things worked and what made them tick,” he said. In high school, Robert spent the majority of his time enrolled in the industrial arts program, learning metallurgy, welding, and machining. In his sophomore year, he won second place in the state of Washington for a project that took him a full school year to build. Today, Robert is the President of HVAC Service Pros in Puyallup, with a service area throughout the South Sound.

“When I discovered HVAC, I knew I had found my calling,” he told us. “It not only has lots of moving parts, but it also utilizes electricity to make those parts move.” Robert has transferred his passion into his business. Because of this passion, he and his team of four people are able to “provide higher valued delivery of results to our customers than what was and is being offered by our competitors.” Robert and his team have a lot of experience of working in both residential and “extremely intense” commercial applications, such as hospitals, schools, natatoriums, clean rooms, data/switch rooms, etc., he explained, which gives them a different perspective and allows them to provide very unique solutions for our customers and clients.

Robert has now been in the heating and cooling industry for 35 years. He is the oldest of four boys, with one brother in the same industry, another who is a “very talented and accomplished cabinet maker and wood worker", and the third who has been a local police officer for over twenty years. Robert spent the first five years of his life in Southern California, the better part of his childhood in Anchorage, Alaska, and then graduated from high school in Woodinville, Washington.

He has a blended family, with two children of his own, “both grown, out of college, and pursuing their dreams and ambitions,” three children from his “better half, Amanda". The couple also has three grand babies that they absolutely adore and spoil rotten every chance they have, they told us. “Amanda is not only the rock in their family, but also a partner in the business and the anchor of the company,” Robert said. “Hers is the friendly voice you'll reach on the phone.” While he might be in his golden years, Robert still feels like a kid at heart.

“My hobbies are hanging out with our grandchildren, tying my own flies, fly fishing, fly fishing, and fly fishing…Did I mention fly fishing?”

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. “In a nutshell,” said Robert, “we provide comfort heating, cooling, and ventilation for residences and places of business, through various processes, to control temperature and humidity levels, and to maintain indoor air quality.” Robert’s advice to neighbors is to never skimp on price when it comes to your home’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems, or MEP systems. “Cheaper upfront does not equate to lower cost of ownership,” he warned. “And in most cases, you will be spending more over the long haul.” Second, and of equal importance, he continued, is routine maintenance of your MEP systems. “The old adage tells it all: ‘An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.’ In today's world of extremely high-tech equipment and controls, the ‘cure’ factor in this equation can be extremely costly,” Robert said.
