Moms of Las Sendas Book Club

Nine months ago, Molly Caruth had the idea to start her own book club for moms. Now, almost a year later, the Moms of Las Sendas Book Club is growing, and you can be part of it!

Molly Caruth wanted a book club where she felt she could connect and relate to not just the material but to the other’s in the room. This is when she started Moms of Las Sendas Book Club. She was so excited that she even had custom metal bookmarks with the club’s logo made for the members!

“I feel like we are choosing books that pertain more to our interests and better align with the stage we are at in our lives as mothers to younger children,” she shares. “We also keep our meetings shorter in duration since we are all busy moms! We are excited to add more members and totally have the room to grow!”

The intimacy of a small group, plus the environment of Hava Java combined with a charcuterie board and a glass of wine add an extra element of fun. The meetings are once a month for a top time of two hours. They don’t only talk about books, but also their kids school, work, and general life as a Las Sendas mom and woman!

Molly has developed a plan to help keep the order of books they read both interesting and stimulating.

“So far, we have read books from genres such as historical fiction, mystery, thriller/suspense, romance, memoir, and science fiction coming up in August,” she shares. “For September, I want the other members to suggest books from the fantasy genre, and then I narrow the suggestions down to three choices, which we then put to a vote via a poll on Facebook. Whichever gets the most votes is the book we will read for that month!”

So far, the group has put together this impressive list of “Books Read So Far in 2024”:
  • The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict
  • Happy Place by Emily Henry
  • The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf
  • The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
  • The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
  • Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
  • The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

In August they read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, which was their first book by a male author in the sci-fi genre. They try to keep the books “less graphic” and focused on the plot.

Next Meeting: September 30th at

We are still voting on which book to read
for September but it’s going to be in the
fantasy genre with a magic/witch theme!
