Run, Yeah, You Gotta Run … and Bike and Swim!

Pat's 1st run

I have been running for 41 years but competing in triathlons for 36 years. I love the simple beauty of running one foot in front of the other. It’s a great way to clear my mind and enjoy the company of friends as I start my work day. I have ran countless marathons, including eight Boston Marathons, as well as cycling road races.

My kids and husband have all run with me in the past, but now I have recruited my grandsons every year to Pat’s Run!

year to Pat’s Run! One of my most cherished memories was crossing the finish line at my first Ironman triathlon. It was an unforgettable moment, a testament to the hard work and dedication I’d put in. Watching my dad’s tears of joy on FaceTime as I crossed the finish line was truly heartwarming. Another unforgettable memory was running the Boston Marathon and hearing my Las Sendas neighbor cheering me on from the crowd. It was a complete surprise, and having him run alongside me made the experience even more special.

For those wanting to start running, I say to start slow and go slow. The most important this is to listen to your body and gradually increase your pace and distance over time. Remember, it’s a marathon — not a sprint. If you’re looking for a supportive running community, I run the Las Sendas Run Bike Tri Club. You can find us on Facebook!
