Laurelhurst Emergency Action Plan
Concerned about your Family’s Earthquake Readiness?
Well, you are not alone.
Many of us have emergency preparation at the top of our to-do list but have guiltily postponed action. The volunteers with LEAP (Laurelhurst Emergency Action Plan) can help.
On September 21, from 1:00 -3:00p.m. we will hold our annual Hub drill
on the grounds of St. Stephen’s Church, 4805 NE 45th St.
Free ice cream and enter a drawing: emergency blankets, a DIY 2-bucket toilet, a multi-purpose tool, a cell phone charger, and a City People’s gift certificate.
LEAP invites all Laurelhurst neighbors to come learn about the Hub. Gather useful information about preparation. The Hub is your Hub; it works for you!
It will be Laurelhurst’s central gathering place after a disaster knocks out regular methods of communication. The Hub will permit neighbors to share information – impassable streets; grocery store re-opening; missing people/pets; items or services offered or needed such as extra blankets or diapers, and thawed meat to share.
At our drill, LEAP volunteers will pop up tents and practice responding to a variety of post-earthquake emergencies. Hub ham radio operators will practice linking us to the City and to other neighborhoods.
Come practice with our volunteers and help make our neighborhood Rumble Ready.
