Liner Guys: Giving Backyard Pools a Second Chance

For Derick Conway of Liner Guys, working with concrete and pools is not just a career. It is something that started generations ago.

Derick grew up in Corydon, Indiana and has lived in Clark County for more than 25 years. His introduction to construction came early, learning from someone he admired deeply, his grandfather. A “baby Seabee” during World War II, his grandfather learned to pour concrete while serving in the military. By the time Derick was old enough to help, his grandfather was mostly retired, but he would still take on small projects from time to time. Those projects became Derick’s classroom.

As a kid, he loved tagging along and helping wherever he could. What stood out most to him was concrete. To Derick, it felt like a trade where creativity had no limits. That early exposure sparked a passion that would shape his future.

In 1999, Derick officially started his own concrete business the old-fashioned way by picking up the phone and calling every contractor he could find until a few gave him a chance. From there, the business steadily grew and evolved.

In the early 2000s, Derick had the opportunity to start building pools and it quickly became clear that this was the direction he wanted to go. He fell in love with the process and the transformation a great pool can bring to a home. Since then, pool construction and renovation have been the focus of his work.
Today, Liner Guys specializes not only in new pool builds but also in remodeling and updating existing pools. Projects can range from a full backyard transformation to equipment automation upgrades or simply replacing a liner. One of the things Derick enjoys most is helping homeowners see the possibilities in what they already have.

Last summer, he worked with a Lake Forest family who had been told by other contractors that their only option was to tear out their existing pool and start over. Instead, Derick helped them reimagine it. By adding new coping, underwater benches, a sundeck, a fountain, and updated pool equipment, the space was completely transformed while saving the homeowners tens of thousands of dollars.

That kind of problem-solving approach is what sets Liner Guys apart.

Derick’s advice for residents is simple. Just reach out! Whether it is time for a new pool bottom and liner or you are just curious about the condition of your current setup, he is happy to help. Since he is often working in the neighborhood, he is always glad to stop by, take a look at how a liner is holding up, and help homeowners think through a future plan for whenever the time comes.

If you are considering improvements to your backyard pool, Derick Conway and Liner Guys would love to help bring those ideas to life. You can reach him at conwaycollc@gmail.com or (502) 523-2580.
