Way to Go, Dexter! Fourth Grader Raises the Most for Hite's Rainbow Run

Lake Forest resident and Hite Elementary fourth grader Dexter Bittinger has a lot to be proud of this spring. As part of Hite’s 10th annual Rainbow Run fundraiser, Dexter raised an incredible $1,145 —the highest amount in the fourth grade and the second-highest contributor in the entire school! His total included personal and corporate donations.
Organized by the Hite PTA, the Rainbow Run is the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Students collect donations leading up to the colorful event, which features a 1-mile fun run/walk with vibrant color stations, music, and even a chance for students to throw pies in the faces of beloved faculty members. This year’s goal was to raise $20,000 for new technology, outdoor play equipment, and creative learning spaces—but thanks to community support and enthusiastic students like Dexter, Hite blew past that goal, raising a record-breaking $27,083 in total!
As a reward for his fundraising efforts, Dexter got to choose a staff member to “pie” in the face—his lucky pick was fourth grade teacher Mr. Guest, and everyone had a blast celebrating the big moment.
Congratulations to Dexter and the entire Hite community on their most successful Rainbow Run yet!
