Dr. Inder Singal and the Adarsh Charitable Foundation

A Lake Forest family helping others see a brighter future.

Dr. Inder Singal

For Dr. Inder Singal and his wife, Seema, giving back isn’t just something they do—it’s a family mission. The couple, who has lived in Lake Forest for the past 13 years, have made service a cornerstone of their lives. Together with their two college-aged daughters, they dedicate time and energy to a cause that’s changing lives both locally and globally: preventing vision loss.
In 2018, Dr. Singal founded the Adarsh Charitable Foundation, named in honor of his mother. The foundation’s core mission is to create sustainable solutions to prevent vision impairment—especially in communities where resources are scarce. Partnering with programs in Belize, Guatemala, and Louisville, Dr. Singal has worked to train and retain local physicians, ensuring that the impact of their outreach continues long after a mission trip ends.
Closer to home, the foundation’s most recent partnership with VisionWorks-KY has made an enormous difference for Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) students. To date, the foundation has screened more than 9,000 children and provided over 2,000 pairs of glasses to students who might not have been able to afford them otherwise. Once every JCPS child has access to proper vision care, the foundation hopes to expand to surrounding counties, making sure even more children can succeed in school and in life.
The foundation’s work doesn’t stop there. Each year, the Singal family and their dedicated board host the Vision Gala, a fundraising and awareness event held at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel. The Gala has become a sold-out celebration, bringing together 400 community members for an evening filled with auctions, raffles, dancing, and inspiration. More importantly, it offers a chance to educate local leaders and neighbors about the foundation’s long-term goals—and how they can help. “So many wonderful ideas have come from people who attended the Gala and wanted to share their time and talents,” Seema explains.
For the Singal family, service is truly a family affair. All four members serve on the board of the foundation, and the daughters often travel with their parents on outreach trips when their schedules allow. “We always knew we wanted our children to follow in our path and give back to the communities that gave us so much,” Seema shares. “Our hope is that this foundation will be passed on for generations to come.”
Life in Lake Forest provides the Singals with a sense of community that matches their values. They moved to the neighborhood 13 years ago to be closer to friends who now feel like family, and they love the walking trails, tennis courts, and welcoming neighbors.
For those inspired to join the mission, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Volunteers are always needed during the school year to help with vision screenings—from assisting with registration to guiding students through frame selection. The annual Gala also depends on volunteers to greet guests, manage donations, and help the evening run smoothly.
With a passion for service and a vision for the future, the Singal family is truly making a difference—both here in Lake Forest and far beyond.
