Shall We Dance with Jani and Viktoria Szukk

Lake Forest residents Jani and Viktoria Szukk are the new owners of Shall We Dance, officially taking over the business on January 1, 2026. While the ownership is new, their connection to the studio and venue runs deep. For more than 15 years, Shall We Dance has been their professional home, where they have built a nationally recognized ballroom dance program and community.

Originally from Budapest, Hungary, Jani and Viktoria moved to the United States 25 years ago and quickly made their mark in the Louisville area. As ballroom dance professionals, they and their students are well known across the country, with many earning regional and national championship titles. Over the years, they have also been deeply involved in Dancing With the Stars style charity events, helping raise millions of dollars for local and national causes.

Located in the charming historic community of Anchorage, this one-of-a-kind event venue is rich in both architectural detail and local history. The building was originally constructed in 1939 and was completely restored in 2009 with great care taken to preserve its character. Architectural highlights include pressed copper ceilings, mahogany crown moldings and trim, and white oak wood floors throughout the space. The covered front porch and storefront style facade give the venue the appearance of an old general store, adding to its timeless appeal and welcoming presence.

In addition to its interior elegance, the venue features a beautiful outdoor courtyard that is ideal for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and outdoor gatherings. The space hosts a wide variety of events, including wedding ceremonies and receptions, bridal and baby showers, proms, reunions, fundraisers, and private celebrations. Many Lake Forest residents are surprised to learn that this elegant and historic venue is located just ten minutes from the neighborhood.

Jani and Viktoria understand that planning an event can feel overwhelming, and they focus on creating a comfortable and reassuring experience from the first inquiry through the final celebration. They are passionate about helping guests feel confident that they have chosen the perfect place to gather and celebrate meaningful moments.

The Szukk family has lived in Lake Forest for seven years. Their daughters, Evelyn, 13, and Emilia, 11, are both competitive dancers at The Vision Dance Center, making dance a central part of their family life. When they are not teaching, competing, or hosting events, the family enjoys traveling and exploring new destinations together, always prioritizing time spent creating memories.

Shall We Dance is proud to serve the community as both a dance studio and an elegant event venue, and Jani and Viktoria look forward to welcoming their Lake Forest neighbors for celebrations close to home. As a thank you to local residents, they are offering a special discount when you mention Stroll while inquiring.
