Meet Mystery!

with the Parkinson Family

Every neighborhood has a few four-legged friends who stand out, and in Lake Forest, Mystery the mixed terrier has definitely earned his place in the spotlight. At five years old, Mystery is equal parts cuddly companion and clever escape artist.
One of Mystery’s most memorable adventures came when he slipped away, but thanks to a watchful neighbor who noticed his collar and called the number, he found his way safely back home. He is a beloved part of the family, always ready for snuggles, walks, and a few laughs along the way.
Mystery’s favorite activities are simple but sweet—cuddling on the couch, going for walks, and playing with his dog brother. He’s also known for his quiet charm when visitors arrive, patiently waiting for someone to pick him up. His family says one of the things they love most is how much he enjoys being held.
When it comes to treats, Mystery has a very specific taste. He adores Milk-Bones so much that he’ll wait by the door until he hears the shake of his treat container before coming back inside. He enjoyed them a little too much at one point, so now he sticks to the mini versions.
But life with Mystery also comes with some antics. Known for his “talent” of escaping, he’s been caught throwing himself against the backyard gate just to check if it was left slightly unlatched. If it is, he’ll happily trot off to explore the neighborhood. His family laughs, too, about his nervous little habit—he constantly licks his lips, a quirk that can be funny… until it goes on a little too long.
With his cuddly nature, quiet greetings, and playful determination, Mystery has made himself unforgettable. Whether he’s snuggled in a lap or plotting his next great escape, he’s a dog who keeps his family entertained—and loved—every single day.
