Amelia Jackson, A Dedicated Student Athlete Making Waves
At just 16 years old, Amelia Claire Jackson is already making an impressive impact both in and out of the pool. A student at Christian Academy of Louisville, Amelia balances a full schedule of academics, athletics, leadership, and service, all while staying grounded in her faith and family.
Amelia has lived in the neighborhood since December 2017 with her parents, Jason and Brooke, and her younger siblings, Holden, 9, and Lennox, 5. Over the years, she has become deeply involved in her school and community, embracing every opportunity to grow and connect.
A standout athlete, Amelia competes on the CAL varsity swim team and varsity lacrosse team, while also swimming with Triton Swimming of Louisville. Her journey in swimming actually began here in the neighborhood. “I began my swimming sport right here in Lake Forest as a Dolphin, and after my first season I knew I had made lifelong friends,” she shares. Lacrosse came later, sparked by a desire to be part of a team alongside her school friends.
While both sports play a major role in her life, Amelia appreciates the unique benefits each brings. She loves the teamwork and collaboration of lacrosse, where working together is essential for success. Swimming, on the other hand, offers something different. “After a stressful or difficult day, you can get in the water and clear your mind. You are the one in control in that lane,” she says.
Her hard work has already paid off in meaningful ways. Amelia counts every trip to the state competition and each medal earned as highlights of her journey, reminders of the dedication and perseverance she has poured into her sport.
Standing out both literally and figuratively, Amelia notes that being one of the tallest girls on her teams has helped shape her competitive edge. Learning to use her height and strength to her advantage has given her a unique perspective when competing against others.
Beyond athletics, Amelia’s schedule is equally impressive. She is involved in HOSA, serves as an FCA leader, participates in the School of Biomedical Sciences, manages the CAL boys' basketball team, and volunteers in the preschool ministry at Southeast Christian Church. Despite her many commitments, she prioritizes balance. With guidance from her parents, she makes time to rest and recharge while staying connected to her faith, family, and friends.
One person who has had a lasting influence on Amelia is Coach George Washington. She admires not only his strong faith but also the way he encourages student athletes to live with purpose. Through his mentorship, he has inspired her to push herself, give her best effort, and grow in her walk with Christ, offering both practical life advice and meaningful encouragement along the way.
Looking ahead, Amelia plans to attend college and pursue a major in Sports Hospitality Management with a minor in Marketing, combining her love of sports with future career goals.
With her drive, perspective, and heart for others, Amelia Jackson is truly making the most of every opportunity and her journey is just getting started.
