Cheers for Cheerio!

Cheerio charms Lido neighbors one tail wag at a time.

Cheerio is a 7-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that lives half in Newport, half in Davis. As he straddles the Californian coast, this sweet dog loves the Lido lifestyle, and his visits, although sometimes short, are always a good time.

Cheerio is the third King Charles Spaniel in his family, a favorite breed for their calmness and connections with their owners, as they are very responsive to human emotions. His owner, Milbourne Finley, loves how diverse the dog community on Lido is, which I can agree with. She says that she can see many different types of spaniels on Lido, as well as big dogs, like an English Mastiff, or as small as a Teacup Poodle. That's one of the beautiful things about this community, that there are always people out and about with their dogs, walking and playing, who are always interesting to talk to.

Cheerio loves playing with his multitude of dog toys and his owners, of course. He loves snuggling, which was made very clear when he snuggled up next to me as I was interviewing him. One of his favorite pastimes is getting a small pup-cup at Starbucks and enjoying it on the walk or ride home. He is a very healthy dog, especially compared to the two other cocker spaniels the family had before him. They used to have health problems and needed homemade food, but Cheerio is very happy and strong, and still enjoys his doggy life without any complications.

Although being near the water is a favorite, and living on Lido always brings around happy barks, Cheerio doesn't really like going for dips in the water. What he does enjoy is taking long walks around the island to the pocket parks or along the sandy sidewalks on Lido Nord. Perhaps, you'll even see Cheerio celebrating the Fourth of July as he walks with the parade! Happy Fourth!
