The New Standard in Collision Repair

How No. 1 Collision Group is restoring more than vehicles—it’s reshaping expectations.

In an industry often associated with inconvenience and disruption, No. 1 Collision Group has spent decades rewriting the narrative—quietly transforming collision repair into something more refined, intentional, and even reassuring.

What began in 1972 as a small, three-person shop specializing in BMW repairs in Vancouver, British Columbia, has grown into a North American leader in luxury collision repair. Today, the company is known not only for its technical precision and manufacturer-certified expertise, but for delivering an experience that feels more like stepping into a high-end automotive showroom than a traditional collision shop.

That evolution emerged in 1993, when brothers Rob and Scott Walker took over the business with a bold vision. Both lifelong car enthusiasts, they saw an opportunity to elevate every aspect of the collision repair experience, especially for owners of premium vehicles.

“Most people associate collision repair with inconvenience and disruption,” Rob explains. “We wanted to change that—focusing on luxury vehicles and creating an experience that felt elevated, seamless, and even enjoyable. The goal was to build something that felt less like a body shop and more like a premium, customer-first environment.”

That mindset proved to be a turning point. As the luxury vehicle market expanded in Vancouver—with brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and later Tesla—the demand for specialized, high-quality repair services increased. No. 1 Collision Group grew alongside it, building a reputation rooted in trust, craftsmanship, and consistency.

A pivotal milestone came in 2005, when Mercedes-Benz Canada approached the company to operate a certified collision center in Richmond, British Columbia. It was a moment that validated their approach and set the stage for future growth.

From there, the business continued investing heavily in advanced technology, factory certifications, and purpose-built facilities designed to meet the evolving needs of luxury vehicle owners. That commitment to excellence led to expansion beyond Canada, first into Bellingham, Washington, and more recently into Southern California.

As the company grew its presence in the U.S., Rob and his family purchased a home in Newport Beach in 2021, splitting their time between Southern California and Washington. Drawn initially by the sunshine and lifestyle, they embraced the ease and pace of coastal living, where everything feels just 10 to 15 minutes away. Over time, Newport has become their second home, with both of their children now living in the area.

At the same time, Newport Beach proved to be a natural fit for the business. Research showed the region leads North America in luxury car sales, aligning perfectly with No. 1 Collision Group’s focus on premium and high-performance vehicles. Their newest Costa Mesa facility, opened in 2025, represents one of their most advanced locations to date—thoughtfully designed to reflect both innovation and a timeless standard of quality. From the clean, modern design to the concierge-level service, every detail is intentional.

What truly sets No. 1 Collision Group apart isn’t just what happens behind the scenes—it’s what customers experience from the moment they walk through the door. While highly trained, factory-certified technicians work with precision in the background, the front-facing environment is calm, transparent, and customer-first.

“While many shops focus purely on the repair itself, we’ve built our business around both technical excellence and customer experience,” Scott shares. “The process shouldn’t feel overwhelming—you should feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.”

That philosophy has earned something far more valuable than industry recognition: long-term trust.

“I take the most pride in the reputation we’ve built,” Scott says. “Earning the trust of both our customers and major automotive manufacturers doesn’t happen overnight. We’ve stayed committed to quality, consistency, and doing things the right way; even when it meant taking a more difficult path.”

Today, that trust extends from Vancouver to Newport Beach. For drivers—especially those with luxury or high-performance vehicles—the message is clear: not all collision repair centers are created equal.

As No. 1 Collision Group continues to grow, their mission remains unchanged: to elevate collision repair into a premium, customer-focused experience—ensuring that even in life’s unexpected moments, the process can feel seamless, supported, and thoughtfully executed.
