Cycling For Change

Laura Mullen, ECLI-Vibes Survivor Advisory Board Founder, shares her story with attendees

Why do we do the things we do? To celebrate Cycling for Change’s 10-year anniversary, we
started in Orange Country California - and Jenna McKaye, author of Grit and Grace, shared parts of her healing journey as a survivor expert of human trafficking.

The Cycling for Change Cross Country Hope tour went to Phoenix next and we biked in the heat and heard from Tanya Alegria who runs the AZ State human trafficking hotline at Dignity Health-Common Spirit hospitals.

Next stop was Dallas Texas - where we joined Nomi Network to celebrate their 15 years of
anti-trafficking work. Cycling for Change has supported Nomi’s efforts for the last ten years,
their efforts bettering the lives of survivors in India, Cambodia, and at-risk, imprisoned female teens in Dallas.

From Dallas we went to Atlanta GA and we biked on the Atlanta Beltline on another hot summer day before a meaningful round table discussion with survivor experts, students, and young adults.

Next stop was Washington DC where George Washington University Hospital Medical students, residents and healthcare professionals heard from PACT’s (People Against Child Trafficking) Board Member and Survivor-Expert Katria Massey. DC’s c4c bike-ride was an adventure with close-up views of National Monuments on the National Mall.

Our last stop was in Syosset Long Island where we heard from Survivor Advisory Board
Founder of Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island (ECLI-VIBES), Laura Mullen and CEO of Northwell Health Michael Dowling. On a second panel discussion made of the key players who helped Laura in her journey, Feride Castillo of ECLI-VIbes said so succinctly and perfectly, “Connection is prevention.”

As Team c4c biked, walked, ran, and played basketball at the Ten-Year Celebration in Long
Island, NY - we brought the community together to fight human trafficking and to offer hope.

But it’s not the end of our work. Be a part of the story and join us. Because Hope. Changes
Everything.
