Pro Sports Physical Therapy
What You Should Know About Physical Therapy and Speciality Treatments.
It is 6:30 AM and you can feel the positive energy emanating from all three Pro Sports Physical Therapy clinics. A hub of activity, Pro Sports professional staff and team greet, treat and encourage the patients to be their best. The varied caseload includes
post-surgical and rehabilitative patients, infants, injured athletes and those who have daily aches and bothersome pains. The Pro Sports Team consists of intake specialists, rehab technicians, licensed physical therapy assistants and doctors of physical therapy. This highly experienced group will ensure a positive experience using a medical, evidence-
based treatment approach.
Pro Sports Physical Therapy offices are strategically located across the North Shore of Long Island in Huntington, Oyster Bay and Locust Valley. These three clinic locations were specifically chosen to provide a community based, personal and professional medical experience, every visit. The clinic atmosphere was designed to be inviting, clean, and professional with adequate spacing for the patients to receive individual attention.
Your experience at Pro Sports, P.T. will begin with a full evaluation and analysis of your needs and goals by the Doctor of Physical Therapy. The focus of your treatment will be determined by those goals which have been established by you and the professional team. Each session will be unique, your status will be reassessed at each session and your treatment will be adjusted accordingly.
Pro Sports, P.T. sets itself apart by offering specialty treatments that are frequently not available at other clinics including:
Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR)
Especially useful in post operative cases and with individuals who have been injured or have pain, Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a technique which combines low- intensity exercise with reduced arterial blood flow. BFR allows patients to use low resistance exercises while achieving results similar to high intensity training. Use of BFR training promotes muscle fiber recruitment, hypertrophy and release of hormones including Human Growth Hormone to aid in tissue repair.
Cupping
Frequently used as an adjunct to our manual treatment, Cupping provides a negative pressure allowing for myofascial decompression resulting in an increase in blood flow and reduced tissue tightness and pain.
Kinesiotaping
The application of K- Tape is often used in the clinic to help facilitate muscle function, improve posture, stabilize joints, decrease pain, swelling, bruising and muscle spasms.
lontophoresis
lontophoresis is a painless treatment which works by using electricity to deliver medication through your skin and into your injured tissues. It is often used to decrease inflammation and scar tissue, and to reduce pain.
CYBEX HUMAC NORM
The Cybex HUMAC NORM provides a computerized strength and muscular endurance assessment. This allows us to identify any deficits and imbalances between the right and left sides and between antagonist and agonist muscles. This data is often used for providing additional criteria for return to sport and for screening for injury prevention.
