In the heart of Glen Cove, Locust Valley resident Deborah M. Brisbane has profoundly shaped the lives of generations of young people and the leadership of Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club. In recognition of her unwavering dedication, the Club celebrated Deborah’s 30 years of service at its Annual Spring Event, held at Piping Rock Club on April 18.
Deborah’s journey began as a committee member for Club events. Her energy, creativity and determination quickly caught the attention of fellow volunteers and staff. From those first moments of stepping up, she demonstrated a rare combination of vision and follow-through, a quality that would define her decades-long service.
Over the years Deborah rose to the role of Board President, guiding the Club through fundraising campaigns, scholarship initiatives, human resources decisions, and safety and strategic planning. Along the way she mentored several Executive Directors, shaping the management of the Club, while also strengthening Board governance and recruiting new members to ensure the organization’s future remained strong and vibrant.
But perhaps Deborah’s greatest impact has been on the youth themselves. A lifelong advocate for children and teens, she has championed programs that help young people thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Through her leadership the Club has created safe spaces for learning, enrichment, and self-expression, transforming the experiences of hundreds of young people over the years. Known for her keen eye for style, her creativity, and her collaborative spirit, she inspires everyone around her, staff, volunteers, and community members alike, to bring their best to the Club.
“Debbie has given her heart to the organization,” said Franca Trunzo, Executive Director. “Her vision, and tireless commitment have strengthened our Club and our Board.”
After three decades of service, Deborah will rise to the role of Board Chair, continuing to provide strategic guidance to both the Board and Club. The Club also welcomes Aimee Eberle as the new Board President. Aimee, a long-time board member, is eager to contribute to the Club’s continued growth and impact.
Deborah Brisbane’s legacy is one of service, mentorship, and stewardship. Her journey stands as a testament to the extraordinary difference one dedicated leader can make, not only in the lives of young people, but in the strength and spirit of an entire community.
