Breathe Eden
Integrative Healing through Physical Therapy, Yoga and Health Coaching
Breathe Eden is not your typical physical therapy clinic. After more than 10 years living and working as a physical therapist, yoga teacher and holistic health coach in New York City, Dr. Lindsay Grobman Lombardo, DPT, RYT, HHC, and her family knew it was for them to return to their Long Island roots and reconnect with nature. In 2024, Lindsay opened Breathe Eden in Locust Valley with the intention of helping others heal their mind, body and spirit.
When you enter Breathe Eden, you immediately feel supported by Lindsay’s calm presence and healing space. Lindsay draws from her 20+ years of experience as a physical therapist, yoga teacher and holistic health coach to help people heal pain and injury, while reducing stress and anxiety. She uses traditional physical therapy tools such as manual therapy and exercise, but her own experience as a patient many years ago led her to develop breath and yoga-based treatments that address mind and body.
From a young age, Lindsay was driven by a desire to help others. Initially aspiring to be a pediatrician, her interests later shifted to psychology during her teenage years. However, a car accident just before she began college altered her career trajectory completely. She underwent months of physical therapy for her injuries and developed a deep desire to become a physical therapist.
After five years of practicing traditional physical therapy, Lindsay felt something was missing from her client's treatment plans. Continued neck and back pain from her car accident years prior, led her to explore Yoga and Pilates. She discovered that mind and body were often intertwined in healing. Lindsay explains: “When I started feeling that I was healing from within and calming my nervous system through my breath and mindful movement, I knew I found something special.”
The mindful movement and conscious breathing practices she discovered through yoga provided her with deeper relief and a newfound perspective on health. Recognizing the similarities between physical therapy exercises and these movement practices, Lindsay began integrating Yoga and Pilates principles into her treatment plans. The results were transformative. Patients who had struggled with chronic pain for years began experiencing significant relief. This revelation marked a turning point in Lindsay's career as delved deeper into ancient yoga practices and philosophies, particularly connecting with breathwork.
By combining mindful movement with conscious breathing, Lindsay developed a holistic treatment method that addresses not just the physical but also the emotional and psychological components of pain and healing.
Lindsay’s integrative approach didn’t stop there. Her growing interest in nutrition and its impact on health led her to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where she became a certified Holistic Health Coach in 2015. Understanding that diet and lifestyle choices play a crucial role in inflammation and pain, she began incorporating nutritional guidance into her therapy sessions, as well. This holistic approach to healing ensures that her clients receive comprehensive care, addressing all facets of their wellbeing.
Over the past 6 years, Lindsay has also found a particular joy in supporting women through their prenatal and postpartum phases of life. As a mother herself, she loves helping other mothers manage pain, anxiety, and stress through tailored yoga practices and lifestyle adjustments that are safe throughout the transformative years of motherhood.
Breathe Eden reflects Lindsay’s philosophy of wellness. It is a space where traditional physical therapy meets holistic practices, offering a unique blend of services aimed at healing the whole person. By integrating health coaching into physical therapy treatment plans, Lindsay offers personalized diet and lifestyle modifications to support her clients' healing journeys. This comprehensive approach empowers individuals to take control of their health, fostering lasting changes that extend beyond the treatment room.
Lindsay has no regrets about trading city life for the sounds of nature and being near the water. She is thrilled to have found a space in Locust Valley where she can connect with her new community and offer supportive and healing care. You can find her at Birch Hill Natural Medicine.
