Welcome to the Neighborhood: Meet the LaMont Family
The LaMont Family Finds Their Forever Home in the M Streets
The M Streets are known for their character-rich homes and strong sense of community—and the LaMont family has embraced both with open arms. Calvin, Sabrina, and their daughter Journee Jewel moved to the neighborhood in October 2024 and are quickly becoming a vibrant part of the community.
Originally a modest 2-bedroom, 1-bath Tudor, their home has undergone a remarkable transformation. With a shared passion for design, Calvin and Sabrina completely reimagined the space, expanding it into a 2,500-square-foot, two-story home with four bedrooms and four baths. “Our goal wasn’t just to buy a house,” says Calvin. “It was to put down roots in a neighborhood where we feel safe, connected, and inspired to raise our daughter.”
Journee, now five, is already active in local gymnastics and soccer and attended Mockingbird Elementary. The family enjoys frequent outings to Klyde Warren Park, spring break bowling in Lakewood, and dining at neighborhood favorites like Hudson House and The Porch.
Sabrina, originally from the Bay Area, has an impressive background as a makeup artist, with clients spanning from red carpet award shows to hit reality TV series. Now a district manager for ULTA Beauty, she brings creativity and experience to every endeavor. Calvin, born in Houston and raised on the East Coast, moved to Dallas in 2007 and has built a name for himself restoring and renovating historic homes. While you may recognize him from HGTV’s Buy It or Build It, the LaMonts are keeping the spotlight on their family for now, with more stories to come in future issues.
Beyond home life, the LaMonts are dedicated to giving back. Their newly launched LaMont Brothers Foundation supports arts and music education for youth, with plans for a mobile museum tour to help kids explore creative career paths. They’re also launching a podcast, Working In Progress (WIP), focused on the intersection of work and life.
Family traditions run deep—Thanksgiving and Christmas are celebrated with extended family, Easter egg hunts with the neighbors at Glencoe Park, and the Elf on the Shelf always makes a special appearance. Whether cooking together or planning their next creative project, the LaMmonts value quality time and community connection.
As new homeowners, they understand the challenges of renovation and adjustment but encourage others to lean in. “You’re not alone,” says Calvin. “Don’t be afraid to reach out to your neighbors. Step outside. Take advantage of being in such a wonderful place.”
The LaMonts are excited to be part of the M Streets—and the feeling is mutual.
