Meet Hatch: The Caramel-Colored Conner with a Heart of Gold

What’s your origin story, Hatch? Although born a dog, I identify as human.  I was born an Australian Labradoodle (ALD) 3 years ago in McKinney, Texas. At 38 pounds, I am medium sized and sport a true caramel colored coat with a starch-white chest underneath. The breeders at Legendary Labradoodles carefully selected THE best ALD parents for me and 2 months later, out I came, ready to transition to my true human self as soon as possible. https://legendarylabradoodles.com Ryan and Doug Conner took me home to live with them as the finishing touch to their beautiful young family.

What is the story behind your breed? Relatively new on the scene, we were first bred in 1980 in Australia. Our breed is completely unique, spectacular and of course, legendary. We are a cross among a labrador (best dog ever), a poodle (cleanest dog ever) and a cocker spaniel (cutest dog ever). Put us all together and you’ve got a super cute, clean, friendly, faithful and long-lived companion of a dog.

Any special or unusual talents/quirks? I excel in many areas of life, and am happy to tell you about a few of them. Dad taught me to fly fish and hike in New Mexico. I love it there so much that they named me Hatch – cuz I can be spicey like a New Mexico chili.

Any funny stories? Daily I assume my command post atop the sofa so I can supervise all the household activities - make sure the kids get off to school okay and such. Then I start on my daily homework – gnawing on the bully stick.  Oh such an earthly delight.

Favorite Activities? Travel, hiking, rough-housing, tug-of-war, jumping, car-rides and snuggling. Participating in the Dallas Turkey Trot is a best-of day for me each year. And visiting my best friend Waffles is pretty high on my 2025 list of things I’m grateful for.  See Stroll M Streets, August 2024 edition, page 11 for Waffle’s story.)

What else should we know about you Hatch, and how have you enriched your home/family? Of all the things I love about life, getting hugs from my fellow humans is the best. I also give great hugs in return – just ask anyone in the family! This Caramel Colored Conner could not be happier than when he’s spending time with the fam and doing everything possible to make them love more or laugh more.
