Make This Summer Count:
Building Confidence That Lasts
As the school year winds down, many families look forward to a well-earned summer break. But summer can also bring an undesirable challenge: learning loss. Studies show that students can lose up to two months of math and reading skills over the summer, making the transition back to school more difficult in the fall.
The good news? Summer is also one of the best times to build strong, lasting skills without the pressure of grades, tests, or busy schedules.
At Kumon, we view summer as an opportunity, not just to maintain skills, but to strengthen them. With just 20 to 30 minutes of daily practice, students build focus, confidence, and independent learning habits that benefit them year-round.
We are excited to announce our Summer Study Days Challenge. We are encouraging all our students to set study goals before summer begins and track their completed study days. It is a fun way to stay consistent, build skills, and see how far they can go.
Summer learning does not have to pause for travel. Whether your family is visiting relatives, taking an extended vacation, or splitting time between locations, students can stay consistent anywhere there is Wi-Fi using a tablet and stylus. Kumon Connect, the digital version of the same curriculum, is designed to emulate pencil-to-paper learning rather than add to mindless screen time or gamified learning.
Kumon is an international program that has been used for nearly 70 years by millions of students around the world. This means your child is not just keeping up locally, they are developing skills that meet a global standard. In today’s increasingly connected and competitive world, that kind of confidence and consistency matters more than ever.
This summer, consider making learning part of your routine, no matter where you are.
Because growth does not take a vacation.
