A Welcome to Community

From Ours to Yours

September is a time for change. A time when summer falls into the turn of autumn. Schedules shift. The looseness of summer gives way to the more formed structure of fall. The long days shorten and call us back to the balance of the night.

At Sky, we believe in moving with the seasons. Nature reminds us of the sweetness of change. The lesson of impermanence is written into the ending of one season and in the beginning of another. Nothing remains exactly as it is. We have the choice to fight against it, or we can lean into it.

The choice is the lesson of perspective. We may not have a say in what changes, yet we have the opportunity to choose how we meet it. We can harbor resistance or cultivate gratitude. We have the ability to shift the lens through which we look. One single experience can be observed in many ways. We can see the same thing as a curse or as a blessing. We can choose to see it through the lens of the past or what we think the future will hold. Or we can train ourselves to see things simply as they are and then make conscious choices of what to do next.

Perspective can be as simple as knowing there was a summer that was. A winter that will be. And a fall that is here now. To not dwell in what we cannot change or rush to what has yet to come, but rather embrace where we are in the now.

For us, yoga is more about presence than postures. The “on the mat” practice offers tools for the “off the mat” practice of life. We are here to guide with depth, intention, and care by honoring an ancient tradition in the modern world. We believe in creating experiences that are purposeful rather than performative. Movement with meaning. Stillness with openness. A willingness to step into every practice with curiosity rather than conforming. Because while we know how challenging change can be, within it lives potential. Possibilities born through connection and cultivated through the collective, each of us an intricate part of something together.

At Sky, we hold a thread each month, creating a mosaic weaving throughout our studios, teachers, practices and teachings. In this transitional month of September, it is the thread of The Field. This belief that each of us is part of something larger.

Imagine a single drop falling into still water and the power it holds to create the ripple far beyond itself. The same is true of us. It begins in the single point of our awareness of self and ripples into how we show up in our circles of life, what we create within those spaces together, and what we carry into the world at large.

What we cultivate within ourselves enters spaces beyond what we may ever know.

Maybe that is the invitation of this season: notice what is changing. Notice how you are meeting it. Get curious about what this new season might make possible. And remember that none of us moves through these seasons alone.
Life can be hard. Something softens when we remember we are in it together.
So, Manlius, consider this our hello. Our doors are open, our mats are down, and there is space for you here.
From our community to yours, welcome to Sky. Come practice with us.
