Embracing the Process
Cara Janowsky
This is "A Swan's Eye View," meant to honor Manlius' town history as well as my journey as an artist. I have always loved art and the process of creation, though in my earlier years, I often focused too much on getting things exactly right. For any artist, we know that when the work is centered on getting it "just right," it can lose some of its meaning. When I created this piece, I wanted to really focus on how it felt. The process of choosing each color, brush stroke, and direction - not to get each element aesthetically perfect, but to ensure I felt right in every moment. I let that process speak for itself. When I completed the piece, it felt different than anything I had created before. As I continue to paint, work, and just live my every day life, I get to carry that lesson about "enjoying the process" into everything I do.
