Where Celebration Meets Community:
The Story Behind The Sinclair of Skaneateles & The Munro
Bob and Pat are celebrating a life built around family, community, and meaningful work. Together, they have four sons: Mike, who will be marrying Gina in July; Matt; Bob Jr., who is married to Molly and has twin boys, Carson and Nolan, age eight; and Brian, who is married to Megan and has two children, Kendall, age eight, and Mason, age four.
Bob was born and raised in Auburn, leaving only to serve in the Marines. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and went on to become a Sergeant in the Auburn Police Department. Pat, originally from Michigan, moved to the area over 40 years ago to work as a special education teacher for Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, later becoming a neuro-school psychologist.
Several years after starting their business, The Sinclair of Skaneateles, which will celebrate its 10th year this July, the couple made Skaneateles their home. Last summer, they expanded their vision by opening a second property, The Munro.
Bob and Pat have been married for over 32 years and have built a close-knit, active family life. Sports have always played a central role, with all four of their sons participating in varsity athletics during high school. Matt and Mike went on to play soccer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Today, their grandchildren carry on that tradition, participating in baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, as well as dance and gymnastics.
Family time remains a priority, and they can often be found together cheering on their favorite teams. They stay closely connected, talking nearly every day. Their youngest son, Mike, works full-time in the family business, overseeing all aspects of operations. Their other three sons contribute when they can, while maintaining full-time careers. Bob Jr. and Brian are teachers, as are their wives, and Matt serves as Lead Process Manager in the Process Design and Innovation Team for Target, a role that frequently takes him on the road.
Pat retired shortly after the opening of The Sinclair. Today, she and Bob can often be found walking together around the village each morning before spending time helping Mike at either The Sinclair or The Munro.
After careers that often brought them into contact with difficult and emotional situations, Bob and Pat have found great joy in their current work—being part of so many families’ happiest moments.
They speak often about how much they love Skaneateles and how fortunate they feel to call it home. Whether walking to the lake or spending time in the village, they cherish the sense of community. They especially appreciate the local shop owners and their employees, who they describe as a joy to connect with. Their favorite restaurants include Moro’s and Rosalie’s—fittingly, as Rosalie’s serves as the exclusive caterer at The Sinclair, while Moro’s is exclusive to The Munro.
Their neighbors, they say, are just as special. With kind, welcoming people and traditions like an annual block party, the community has become an irreplaceable part of their lives. They can’t imagine living anywhere else and hope to spend the rest of their lives there.
Above all, Bob and Pat feel deeply grateful—for their family, their friends, their community, and the businesses they’ve built, which allow them to bring joy to others during some of life’s most meaningful moments.
