Ziggy’s Tail of Fun and Friendship
From hiking the Anemone Trail to playdates with neighborhood pups, Ziggy’s journey is all about adventure, treats, and making new friends in Mapleton Hill.

Ziggy enjoys hiking winter, spring, summer and fall
Ziggy is a proud resident of Mapleton Hill. It’s believed he was born in Oklahoma, but his background remains a mystery to most, including him. He is grateful every day that Big Bones Canine Rescue deemed him worthy of a life in the wonderful mountains of Colorado.
Having made the decision to spend his time in Mapleton Hill this past July, Ziggy is now delighted to bring his dog skills and canine charm to two humans in his new home. His breed is unknown, but he’s likely a combination of cattle dog, some sort of heeler, perhaps some great Pyrenees, mixed with a large portion of awesome.
The likely 1-year-old is an avid hiker, having tallied more than a dozen ascents of the Anemone Trail, and is a daily walker of the Sanitas Valley Trail. During his hikes, Ziggy is most interested in finding squirrels to chase and any treats to consume. He also has a knack for routing out the hiding places of all bunnies along his journey. He claims his intentions are simply to run and play with them, but to date, that assertion has not yet been proven.
Ziggy has the incredible ability to shovel snow with his mouth. He is an avid explorer of any tasty morsel (and even the untasty ones) lining the path along his many daily walks, though this exploration is conducted against his humans’ wishes. Ziggy also has a palate for eating indoor house plants, particularly his humans’ hibiscus which winters indoors.
Playing with other dogs and hoping for more romps with his neighborhood buddies takes up a large portion of Ziggy’s free time. He is always up for a play date with Finn, Solana, Pluto, Wilson, and Aida among others, and never misses a chance to wait by their yards. Sometimes he even leaves his personal calling card to let them know he’s ready at a moment’s notice to meet their every playtime need.
Ziggy is already excited to meet you and sniff out any treat you might have. Please be sure to stop and say hello to this one-eye-lined furry friend who is thrilled to meet you on your next walk around Mapleton Hill and beyond.
