Avoiding Downsizing Disasters
Sterling Estates of West Cobb Hosts Insightful Panel for Marietta Country Club Neighbors
On August 26, Sterling Estates of West Cobb teamed up with Marietta Country Club to host "How to Avoid Downsizing Disasters," a panel discussion for neighbors considering a move to a senior living community.
Panelists stressed starting early, involving family, and preparing in advance. One key tip: begin clearing out your home—but don’t discard items until after an estate sale consultation, as many things still hold value.
Location also matters. Staying near trusted physicians, longtime friends, church groups, and adult children can make all the difference when choosing your next home.
The highlight of the event was hearing from residents Maureen “Mo” Brickhead and Becky Koller. Mo shared that her husband, diagnosed with a serious illness and given 6–8 years to live, is now thriving nine years later.
“We have an amazing Wellness Center and staff, activities all day long, and because of that, it has extended his life and given me the freedom to do the things I enjoy, knowing he is safe and supported.” – Maureen “Mo” Brickhead | Cottage Resident
Becky added, “My life begins here with my beautiful cottage. I have the largest bedroom I’ve ever lived in and a gigantic walk-in closet… I end my days in peace and start my days in joy because of this loving cottage and neighborhood campus.” - Cottage Resident
