Winnie & Winston

Medallion's favorite pet duo!

Winnie & Winston

Winnie and Winston and their humans, Michael, Cassandra, and Vivienne, have only lived in Medallion for about 2 years, but they are already feeling right at home.

Winnie is a three-and-a-half-year-old female Newfoundland. The Kessler family adopted Winnie when she was just 8 weeks old from a breeder. She loves to lie outside in the cold weather, and needs extra coaxing to come in, especially if it’s snowing. She is a gentle giant; calm, patient, submissive, and sweet. Winnie has often been mistaken for a bear, as the family receives calls from delivery drivers informing them there’s a bear in their yard.

Winston is a one-year-old male Havanese. He joined the Kessler family at just 8 weeks old. His mother was rescued from a puppy mill and discovered to be pregnant. Winston is spunky, loving, and enjoys guarding the yard when large dogs walk by. He enjoys cuddling up at night with their 4-year-old daughter and acts as a security blanket for her at bedtime.

When it came time to naming their pups, they loved using old-fashioned names. Winnie is short for Winifred, and Winston was named after Winston Churchill. Winnie and Winston are besties, with their size differences only adding to their closeness, as they do not like to be separated.

Both Winnie and Winston have their favorite activities. The Kessler family loves playing with Winnie in the snow, especially after all the fluffy snow this past winter! Winston loves snuggles, especially with Vivienne; they sleep side by side.

The Kessler duo enjoys hanging out in their front yard, especially Winston, who particularly loves to bark at Remy, the neighborhood wolf hybrid. Winnie and Winston are surrounded by great neighborhood dogs across the street, and Winston loves talking to them! Winnie is scared to leave the yard and would prefer to stay home, but her humans do drive her to McNamara for walks. If it were her choice, she’d love a trip to the bakery! When Winston leaves the yard, he enjoys doing so by riding in the wagon being pulled by Vivienne, or going on walks around the neighborhood.

If you see this adorable duo out in their front yard, make sure to say hello. And remember, there aren’t any bears in Medallion, just a gentle giant, Winnie, and her best-friend, Winston.
