Life According to Maisie
One of Montebello's newest (and furriest) residents has a heart full of sunshine and a talent for snuggles. From under-the-couch hideouts to dreams of becoming a therapy dog, Maisie is already leaving her paw print on the neighborhood.
Hello, Montebello! I'm Maisie, an 11-week-old Golden Retriever puppy living my best (and fluffiest) life on Cortona Circle. Since I’ve arrived, it’s been a whirlwind of zoomies, belly rubs, treat training, and nonstop love—and I wouldn’t have it any other way! My humans, Jenny, Maddie, John, and Anita, say I’ve turned their world upside down in the best way possible. I figured it was time I introduced myself properly to the neighborhood, so here’s a little peek into my puppy paws world, straight from yours truly.
First things first: my name. My mom says she wanted something unique, sweet, and meaningful—just like me! “Maisie” means “pearl,” which she says suits me perfectly because of my soft white coat (and maybe because I’m a bit of a treasure). It’s also a nod to my Scottish roots. A little elegance, a little fluff, and a whole lot of charm—that’s me.
I came from a beautiful place called Tanglewood Goldens in Fort Mill, SC. From the moment I locked eyes with my humans, I knew they were mine. They scooped me up and brought me home to Montebello, where I now have my very own kingdom (okay, maybe just a couch and a squeaky toy collection, but still... it’s glorious!).
Speaking of couches, one of my favorite things to do is crawl under the one in the living room. It’s my cozy hideaway—a little puppy fort of fluff and shadows. I have a feeling I won’t fit under there much longer (the top of my head already brushes the bottom), but for now, it’s my happy place. I also like to race around the house at top speed every evening, right before bedtime. They call it the “puppy zoomies.” I call it my cardio routine.
But it’s not all fun and games (okay, it’s *mostly* fun and games). I’m a fast learner and already know a whole bunch of impressive words like “sit,” “down,” “crate,” “leave it,” and even “paw.” Not to brag, but I’m kind of a genius. My humans are working with me every day, and I love the challenge—and the snacks, of course. One day, my mom and I hope to become a certified therapy dog team. I can’t wait to spread joy and cuddles to even more people!
Right now, though, I’m focusing on making my humans laugh, learn, and love a little more each day. They say I’m their sunshine—especially when I wake them up before sunrise with my squeaky toy announcements. Even if their eyes are barely open, they always smile when they see me.
Everyone who meets me says I’m friendly and full of love, and they’re absolutely right. I haven’t met a human I didn’t like, and I can’t wait to meet more of my Montebello neighbors. If you see me out for a walk with my family, please come say hi—I’ll probably wiggle my whole body with excitement. And if you have a treat in your pocket? Instant best friend.
For now, I’m soaking up every moment of puppyhood, one tail wag and treat at a time. Life on Cortona Circle is pretty pawsome, and I’m so happy to call Montebello home. Thank you for being such a warm and welcoming community—I can’t wait to grow up with all of you by my side.
P.S. Follow my journey—I have a feeling I’m just getting started!
