The Lake Hickory Wine Society visits JVD Vineyards

Cathie, Diana Jones and Bill

Owner Diana Jones and her team presented the "Estate Tasting" of 8 exceptional wines to us in July. At the end of the afternoon, Chuck Jones took a number of attendees on a production facility tour.  This local vineyard started in 2007 in the foothills of the Blue Ridge with nearly perfect slope, soil, and sunlight at 1500 feet in elevation.  JVD planted 24,000 vines across 30 acres of former pastureland.  The first vintage was produced in 2012.  The vines are from only grapes grown on the estate. The estate has a fantastic outdoor music stage and welcomes national and international artists. This is the only winery in the USA producing a unique blend of Courbu Blanc, Gros Manseng, and Petit Manseng entwined to bring incredible depth, and it's named "Tryst & Twyne.
Supporting North Carolina vineyards and the wine industry, agriculture and non-traditional farming provide jobs, education, and a huge economic impact to the state.  NC wines are competing and winning in the San Francisco Wine Competition against CA wines.
Tasting Room Address: 964 Old Railroad Grade Road, Thurmond, NC 28683
