Meet the de Saram Family: Their Worldly travels always keep them Coming Back Home.

The de Saram Family visited the lavender fields during a trip in France.
Ish and Apsara de Saram are adventurous travelers. They’ve journeyed to various corners of the world and have seen countless breathtaking views, but no place feels like home to them the way Muirfield Village does.
Both born in Sri Lanka, Ish and Apsara came to the United States to pursue higher education. He attended Rollins College while she studied at Oklahoma State University. The couple first crossed paths in New York when Apsara traveled to the city for an event organized by the local Sri Lankan community. They quickly bonded over their shared interests and common experiences, and continued to keep in touch even after Apsara left. After a couple years of living apart, Apsara moved to New York, and the rest became history.
Since then, their family has grown. The two are parents to Ayun, their 8-year-old son, Ily, their 5-year-old daughter, and Spike, a 14-year-old Yorkshire terrier who is unusually tall. They moved to Muirfield Village four years ago, after having spent a good while in New York City.
In addition to shared interests, Ish and Apsara share similar professions, with the two having both worked in banking throughout their careers. Apsara is currently an Assistant Vice President in Huntington Bank’s Balance Sheet Risk Management department, and Ish recently left his career in Fraud Risk Management at Huntington Bank to pursue his entrepreneurial venture.
Ish is now the Owner of Bumble Roofing of Columbus, which not only provides roof care to the neighborhood, but also carries an emphasis on local bee conservation and is a supporter of Save Ohio Bees. As a business, they also participate in soup kitchens, helping prepare free meals to those who need it.
The de Sarams focus on helping others extends beyond Ohio. Ish is the co-founder of The Sunshine Charity in Sri Lanka, which he runs with his mother, sister, and a few other trustees. Their goal is to see to the wellbeing of vulnerable children by providing them with proper education through a preschool they established, as well as nutritious meals and community workshops.
When Ish and Apsara are not busy working, they can be found exploring their love of traveling, both within the US and outside of it. They enjoy learning about the greater world around them and make it a point to travel to a new country every year. This has allowed their son, Ayun, to experience the cultures of 10 countries already at his young age, while their daughter, Ily, has seen five. The family’s most memorable trip to date was a road trip through the south of France in 2023. They rented a car and drove through breathtaking landscapes, including lavender and sunflower fields, little villages, outdoor markets, delicious food, and friendly people.
Though the newness of other cultures and countries brings plenty of excitement, the de Sarams always find themselves coming back to the warmth of their life in Muirfield. They enjoy spending evenings out in the backyard, lazing on a hammock, or throwing a mat down on the grass and playing board games while grilling. The family also enjoys long bike rides together through the various trails.
In Muirfield Village, the de Sarams have found a family-friendly neighborhood and a community of welcoming and respectful neighbors. Having traveled the world, Ish and Apsara can confidently say that the atmosphere, experiences, and opportunities offered here are hard to find anywhere else.
