Baked Cinnamon Apples

In September, as the air turns crisp and orchards brim with ripe fruit, there's nothing quite like enjoying warm baked cinnamon apples. The sweet, tart flavor of the fruit pairs perfectly with the comforting spice of cinnamon, filling the kitchen with an irresistible aroma. Each bite captures the essence of early autumn—cozy, nostalgic, and just a little bit magical.
4 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced (about 4 cups)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
½ Cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice until well coated.
- Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using) and melted butter. Mix until all apple slices are evenly coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture into a greased baking dish, overlapping slightly for an appealing presentation.
- Bake apples for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let cool slightly before serving, drizzle with caramel sauce or serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
