Fun ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Dublin's "The Greenest, Grandest Parade"

All kids will enjoy this list of fun activities to keep them busy during the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday.  We are, afterall, in the city of Dublin so why not sport your Irish heritage and have a fun filled month of March.

Dublin’s Greenest, Grandest Parade:  The City of Dublin will host “The Greenest, Grandest Parade” on Saturday, March 15.  The parade route will begin at the Metro Center and continue through Historic Dublin.  You can see Balloons, Marching Bands, Equestrian Teams, Floats and many school groups.

St. Patrick’s Day Trail Mix:  Make a batch of this St. Patrick’s Day Trail mix by mixing together a box of Golden Graham Cereal, a bag of Mini Marshmallows and a Bag of “Green” Peanut M&M candies.  You could add Lucky Charms cereal for extra color.

Irish Fairy Doors of Dublin:  Go on an Irish Fairy Scavenger Hunt through 11 Downtown Dublin businesses.  Find the Magical Fairy Door and write down the name of each Resident Fairy on the Trail Guide.  Find every door and redeem for a free Irish Fairy Doors of Dublin t-shirt.  Fairy Trail Guide can be printed after scanning the QR code or by going to visitdublinohio.com

Make Green Slime:  Gather the following ingredients and mix together:  4oz Clear Glue, 1 Tbs. Baking Soda, 1 Tbs. Saline Solution, 1-2 drops Green Food Coloring, Green Glitter.  Once mixed together, pick up the slime and work between your two hands, until smooth. If the slime is particularly slimy, work in another 1/2 Tbs. of saline solution as needed.

Wear your favorite Green:  Find your favorite green clothing to make sure you don’t get pinched by those little Leprechauns.  Have fun painting your nails a festive green color too.

Irish Food:  Make a Traditional Irish Meal of fried cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Stew and Apple Cake.  You could also try one of the Dublin area restaurants that feature Irish Dishes such as the Dublin Village Tavern, McClellan’s Pub, FADO Pub & Kitchen and Graeter’s Ice Cream for a Shamrock Sundae.
