The completion of the Dublin City Schools elementary and middle school redistricting process marks an exciting milestone for the district, which continues to thrive and grow. This project, driven by the need to balance enrollment and prepare for future growth, has paved the way for the opening of Deane Brown Bishop Elementary, the district’s 15th elementary school, in August 2025.
Superintendent Dr. John Marschhausen acknowledged the complexities of redistricting but emphasized its importance. “This is emotional work that requires patience and purpose,” he said. “I’m grateful to everyone involved—Cropper GIS, our internal planning team, and the parents who participated. Together, we are making sure every student has a seat and a welcoming place to learn.”
The district collaborated with Cropper GIS, a professional planning firm, to ensure a fair and transparent process. Families were given opportunities to provide input through surveys and an in-person session, with hundreds of responses shaping the final maps. While creating the new attendance boundaries, the district prioritized balancing student populations, maintaining neighborhood continuity, and planning for future growth.
The finalized maps, now available on the district’s website, mark a significant step forward. Families can easily use an interactive tool to view their new assignments for the 2025-2026 school year by simply entering their address. These changes aim to provide clarity and convenience while reflecting the thoughtful planning behind the process.
To support families through the transition, district leaders are implementing detailed plans to ease the adjustment. Principals will begin communicating with transitioning students and their families in the spring, hosting open houses for new students in April and May.
While the district recognizes that no map can satisfy everyone, Dr. Marschhausen emphasized the importance of focusing on the bigger picture. “In a growing district, there are always competing interests,” he said. “Our goal was to create boundaries that will serve the district as consistently as possible for the next several years.”
Looking ahead, Dublin City Schools is preparing for high school redistricting to balance enrollment across its three high schools. This process will begin in late spring, with draft maps presented in September and final maps published in November 2025. A transformative expansion project at Scioto High School will add 40,000 to 60,000 square feet, creating space for 500-700 additional students while reinforcing the district’s commitment to equity and excellence.
With Bishop Elementary’s opening on the horizon and a clear vision for the future, Dublin City Schools continues to provide families with outstanding educational opportunities in a supportive and balanced environment.
