The Gallagans: Finding Connection, Community, and Home
Maggie (5)
For the Gallagans, home centers on time together. It also shapes how they build relationships with friends, neighbors, and the community around them.
Ryan and Lisa met in 2010 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ryan, a Westford, Massachusetts native and UMass Amherst grad, had long called the Boston area home, while Lisa, originally from Orrville, Ohio, was newly in the city after graduating from The Ohio State University.
By 2016, they had gotten married and built a life together in the Boston area. That same year they adopted Milton, an outgoing cat who never misses a chance to be part of the action (or beg for a snack). In January 2021 they welcomed their first daughter, Maggie, and in October of that year they moved to Dublin. In 2023, their family grew again with the arrival of their second daughter, Emma.
Today, the Gallagans are settled into their routines in Dublin. Maggie (5) and Emma (3) both attend Dublin Learning Academy. Both girls enjoy swimming lessons and gymnastics and are constant companions, with just enough sibling rivalry to make life entertaining. As a family, they keep things simple and fun with traditions like Friday pizza nights, sampling local donut shops, regular zoo and library visits, summer trips to Lake Michigan, breakfast-for-dinner, and cooking together. Their favorite local spots include The Pearl, Local Roots, and The Getaway.
Ryan works as a Talent Acquisition Partner for Northwest Bank, while Lisa is a Product Manager at OCLC. Outside of work, they make time for each other, whether that’s trying new restaurants or exploring beer and wine tastings. Lisa enjoys playing tennis at Elysium, working toward new fitness goals, reading, and loves any excuse to gather friends for a casual dinner or a book club night. Ryan loves checking out new breweries and stadiums and rarely misses a game, especially when the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, or New York Yankees are playing. He also keeps up with UMass football—loyally, if not always optimistically. His extensive hat collection is a running family joke.
Although they already feel at home in the neighborhood, the Gallagans look forward to getting more involved as the girls grow. With Maggie starting kindergarten next year, they are especially excited to connect with the school community and find thoughtful ways to support others.
The family values the Muirfield community for its green spaces, strong schools, and welcoming mix of longtime residents and newcomers. For Ryan and Lisa, it’s the kind of place that feels peaceful and connected, exactly what they hoped to find as they raise their daughters here.
